The boys varsity team ran without their #1 man in the Varsity A race as Nate Kawalec ran in the Championship race as an individual. Nevertheless, the boys took home the 5th pace trophy in a field of 31 teams. Brain Horton led the Hilltoppers with a lifetime best time of 17:01. Freshman Anthony Zampino ran an aggressive race to finish 2nd for the team with a big PR of 17:12. Sophomore Aidan Macaskill took more than a minute off of his season best to finish 3rd for the team in 17:37. Brad Knez (17:38) and Tucker Keeney (17:39) rounded out our Top 5.
This meet is very unusual in that the races are run in the afternoon/evening under portable lighting. It was extremely hot this year - 89 F when the freshmen/sophomore race begin.
Nate Kawalec ran the Championship race that began at 9:45 pm. He ran a lifetime best of 15:32 to finish 6th among some of the very best runners in the state.
