On an ideal day for a 5k, most of the team ran season best times.
Nate Kawalec led the toppers with a 4th place and a time of 15:43.2, narrowly missing his older brother's (Ty Kawalec) lifetime PR of 15:43.07 Ty set ran that time as a senior at the state championship his senior year. Nate is a junior. He is now the 2nd fastest Junior ever at Chardon behind Nick Elswick. Nate just slipped past Emil Heineking, who ran 15:44 at the State Championship as a junior to finish 5th overall.
Brian Horton (So), Tucker Keeney (Jr), Mitch Keeney (Sr), and Kyle Stropkay (Jr) rounded out the top 5 for the Hilltoppers.
Kyle had the performance of the day dropping his PR from 17:55 to 17:33.
Athlete of the Week as Mikhail Hall, who dropped his PR by 50 seconds and nearly broke 20:00, running 20:10.8
