The boys CC team had a bit of a disappointing day at the state championship. Nick Elswick's lower leg injury hampered his efforts to the point that he fell to our 4th man and was nearly 2 minutes behind where he would have been expected to finish had he been healthy. Despite his physical ailments, he played a key role in preparing the team for the race. Jacob Krebs, who has been our 5th man, sustained a foot injury shortly after the 2 mile mark and was unable to finish.
On the bright side, Josh Sopchak ran his best race of the year to lead the Hilltoppers with a 45th place finish. Adam Sopchak was our 2nd man, finishing in 66th. Steven Zombory ran next to Adam up until the last 150 meters and faded 7 seconds back to finish 87th. It was still one of Steven's best races of the year.
Jimmy Uhland and Josh Metzung battled one another to the line finishing in 17:53.09 and 17:53.10 respectively.
